Pengrove’s Green Mill Inn was a popular local restaurant from the 1940s through the 1980s. Not an actual mill but named for a whimsical mill-inspired architectural feature added by one of its owners. In the ‘50s and ‘60s, The Green Mill Inn was the place to “see and be seen” north of San Francisco. It’s Mother’s Day brunches could see as many as 2,500 diners in a single day! Their slogan, “Food At Its Best”, can still be read on the large, wooden, mill-shaped billboard facing the northbound side of Highway 101 at the end of Scott street by the Palace of Barrels. The billboard and the venue have been mostly abandoned and ravaged by time. This nostalgic beer is a perfectly quaffable afternoon libation to enjoy on a nice winter day, whether that be in Penngrove or anywhere else really!
